Good health and well-being are essential if students are to achieve their full potential both academically and socially. The Medical Centre at Reading School works closely with the pastoral care team to ensure that students achieve optimum health and well-being status and therefore feel confident in all aspects of their life here.
The Medical Centre is staffed during the school term by the school’s First Aider, as well as the two Boarding matrons. The centre is open for students and parents to contact 08.00 – 16.00 Monday-Thursday and 08.00 – 15.30 on Friday.
The Medical Centre staff co-operate closely with Heads of Houses, the Pastoral team, the Student Support team and all other staff members to ensure that, where appropriate, staff are aware of health concerns which may be impacting on learning. This enables us to make any necessary adjustments to ensure students are supported in the most effective way.
The Medical Centre also has the ability to refer students to a School NHS Nurse, who is a qualified nurse who can see students up to weekly about any aspect of health. They are also able to refer students to specialists..
