Community
Reading School is fortunate in having a supportive and involved community of pupils, parents, alumni and staff. We also have the active support of several representative organisations that make significant contributions to the smooth running of the School each year. These include:
- The Reading Foundation, which owns the Reading School site and administers funds for the benefit the school and its pupils
- Reading School Parent’s Association, supports parents, boys and the school by running a range of activities
- The Old Redingensians Association, the membership organisation for alumni, which also helps enrich the school life
- Friends of Reading School, a group of former parents who remain involved in the school as volunteers
Reading School also promotes the involvement of pupils and staff in the wider community, including:
- Our Community Service Programme, which helps sixth form students to find regular volunteering placements wiith local charities and primary schools
- Hosting the Primary Academy supports academically gifted Year 5 pupils from six local primary school students, to try new subjects and to improve thinking and communication skills, and to raise their expectations and ambitions
- The Reading School Charity Committee is run by students
Pupils and staff also support local and international charities with aims that are in keeping with Reading School's ethos. Recent partners have included:
