Meet Heads of House

Mr Tridgell - County House

School and teaching:
I started at Reading School in October 2020. I teach PE and Games but specialise in our Floreat curriculum which involves developing character and high-performance behaviours and attitudes. I also oversee our growing water sports program which involves canoeing, paddle boarding and soon, rowing. I am Head of County House and really enjoy supporting the development of those in my House and all that I teach and interact with. For me Reading School is a place where I can pursue what I enjoy with a culture that aligns with my own.

A bit more about me:
I live in South Oxfordshire with my wife and 2 children – they are much younger than Reading school students right now but that won’t last for long! I am an avid sports fan with a big preference for all things rugby. But I do love playing any sport that allows me to stay fit and be part of a team. I enjoy cooking (and eating) and will often enjoy the chance to socialise around the dinner table. I am an avid reader of fiction and probably should read a tad more non-fiction! I love film and music and on occasion have been known to sing myself!

Miss Rosser-Evans - East House

My name is Ms Rosser-Evans and I am the Head of East House at Reading School. I am extremely proud to have this role and be able to work with such fantastic students every day.  I love witnessing East House students flourish, not only in the spirited competitions in the house cup but also in the day-to-day experiences of school. Our house is a supportive environment where you will be able to thrive, make contributions and be proud to be part of the community. If you ever can't find me around the school, try looking in a lab, where I also get to teach Chemistry. Teaching Chemistry is amazing! Not only do we get to learn things to help us understand the world around us, but we also get to use Bunsen Burners and complete fun practical work. You may also find me in a canoe from time to time, as I'm lucky enough to get to take students out paddling on the river for an elective every week.

Growing up in Wales, not far from mountains or the sea, meant that I found a love for exploring the outdoors. Whether that be hiking in the countryside with family or heading to the beach with some friends, it is always nice to be outside (when it isn't raining of course). I am also a big fan of watching the rugby, so be prepared to catch me cheering on Wales during the Six Nations every year, even when they lose. When I'm not outside, watching Rugby or spending time with family and friends, I'm often baking delicious treats, listening to music or enjoying myself building Lego.

I am excited to get to know the new members of East House in September and find out all about what things they enjoy and what hobbies they have.

Mrs Clarke - Laud House

I coming to the end of my fourth year of Head of Laud House and I’ve never been prouder to be part of this community.  As the newest of the five houses,  we are working hard to create our identity and the students are very much driving this vision. I am also a Maths teacher and members of 7L will also have me as their teacher for Maths as well as form tutor. The best part about being Head of House is getting to know you all and help support you through your journey at Reading School.

Outside of school, I have 2 young children that take up lots of my time and I am often watching my son playing football and cricket and my daughter at gymnastics. They often attend school events so you will see them around; they even camped out during year 7 belonging week! If you ever want to chat to me about football, I will tell you I support Man U, but secretly I cheer on Liverpool FC. I also enjoy building Lego and have my eye on a few of the Super Mario sets. I would love to see your builds!

Mr Betteridge - School House

I am a keen lover of all this Maths! Those who I teach will most likely describe me as quirky and excited, especially when I am able to share some of the more beautiful pieces in Maths. Outside of the classroom, I have a keen spirit for life and fun, and have made it my mission to instil healthy competition into School House. I know we can't always be the best, but we can be the best at giving 100% and that is what I love to see. I also manage the school's tennis teams (trips to South Africa included!), and often find myself looking for areas to engage with the students outside of my comfort zone!

Outside of school, I am a husband to an English teacher (runs in the family), and we are parents to a 4-legged fury friend. I enjoy long walks in the woodlands, relaxing at a cafe on the river or exploring new cities and areas across the world. I am a keen runner and more recently have found love in Padel Tennis.

I am the Head of School House, and I can't wait to welcome you and your family into our community, we will have a great time!

Mr Sanchez - West House

¡Hola! I'm Mr. Sanchez, and I bring a touch of Spanish flair to our vibrant school community.

Originally from sunny Spain, I embarked on an exciting journey to England in 2014, and I've been relishing every moment of my time here. My passion for football and staying active drives my commitment to fostering a love for physical activity among my students. As Physical Education and Spanish teacher, I am thrilled to share my cultural background and enthusiasm for sports and language with the students.

In addition to my teaching role and Head of West House, I also serve as housemaster in East Wing, one of our fantastic boarding houses. Living on site with my wonderful family—Mrs Sanchez and our energetic son, Bruno—we embrace the unique experience of being part of this amazing community. I'm not just here to educate; I'm here to inspire, guide, and contribute to the holistic development of each student. Let's make learning a joyful journey together at Reading School!
